In the 1982 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 747.

In the 1984 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 882.

In the 1987 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1158.

In the 1990 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1411.

In the 1992 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1458.

In the 1996 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1478.

In the 2000 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1589.

In the 2003 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1671.

In the 2004 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1714.

In the 2005 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1753.

In the 2006 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1794.

In the 2007 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1838.

In the 2009 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 1938.

In the 2012 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 2053.

In the 2015 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 2173.

In the 2018 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 2341.

In the 2024 Health Manpower Survey, the number of dentists covered was 2576.

Figures of 2000 and before refer to the number of dentists who had registered with the Dental Council of Hong Kong on the list of registered dentists resident in Hong Kong as at 1 July of the respective years, the figure of 2003 refers to that as at 31 December 2003 and the figures of 2004 to 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2015 refer to that as at 31 August of the respective years.  

Figure of 2018 refers to the number of dentists registered with the Dental Council of Hong Kong on the list of the registered dentists resident in Hong Kong as at 31 August 2018 with exclusion of those who were subsequently found to have passed away on or before the survey reference date.  

Figure of 2024 refers to the number of dentists registered with the Dental Council of Hong Kong on the list of the registered dentists resident in Hong Kong as at 31 March 2024.
